How long have you worked at Friday? 7 years! Before Friday was a company I was sketching out designs. I think I got my first sock sample sent to me in March 2014.

What’s a fun fact about yourself? I was kicked out of highschool at the end of grade 10 over something called "The Chilli Incident." Don't worry, no on was hurt. I also moonlighted as a stand up comedian in my 20's and performed at Yuk Yuks, The Comic Strip, and took part in the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

What's your horoscope? Sagittarius

Where are you from? Land of Lakes, Ontario.

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? Lazy morning, good coffee, little bit of work, little bit of exercise, run some errands, afternoon barbeque, glass of red.

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks? My favourite pair will always be the Blue Stripes and Dots. They were a key part of the initial concept and how I explained to everyone what I was trying to create. It's also the first pair of socks that were publicly noticed while I was sitting on a bench (back when I was working 8-5 in my corporate job). It was a really cool moment to have someone actually point and say, "check out his socks."

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Extrovert. ENTP

What was your first job? My Dad owned a construction so I was helping from a young age. Outside of that, I was a gas attendant when I was 15. This was back when self serve didn't really exist.

What’s the best life lesson/life advice you’ve learned? It takes the same amount of energy to create positive outcomes in your mind vs negative ones. eg Look at the bright side.

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life? We have a young family and I was pretty into work before the pandemic, so... and I hate to say this, but I've never really noticed much of a difference. I guess, just going to a public place without wearing a mask would be pretty cool.

What would be the title of your memoir? Row Row Row Your Boat

How do you take your coffee? 2 cream one sugar.

Do you believe in aliens? For sure! Anything is possible in this simulation we're living in.

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? Yes! People overestimate what they can do in a year, and underestimate what they can do in five. For that reason, I've made mine a little bigger. My five year plan is to expand Friday Sock Co. into 10 different creative product companies and use economies of scale to develop and grow each of them through the infrastructure, and processes we already have in place.

How long have you worked at Friday? Nov 2018

What’s a fun fact about yourself? I'm a paradox in almost everything. I love nature & silence and also...Las Vegas. I'm a homebody but love to travel. I eat super healthy but am in love with gummy bears and cheezies. Sad music makes me happy. (insert shrugging emoji here..)

What's your horoscope? pisces

Where are you from? Calgary

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? In the Mountains. Must include coffee and/or tea.

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks? Snowy Village because it makes me feel like I'm in a snowglobe. And it was a hard design to do. And I like a challenge.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I N T R O V E R T

What was your first job? Virtual Reality Cafe when I was 15.

What’s the best life lesson/ life advice you’ve learned? Your mind/heart creates your perception. So if you see/feel something you don't like - you have the power to change it.

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life? Going to coffee shops and being able to sit down. And my kids having opportunities for activities.

What would be the title of your memoir? The Moving Target - not sure if I will feel like it at that particular moment.

How do you take your coffee? Tims - XL dark roast 2 cream. Starbucks - Grande Flat white half sweet whatever seasonal thing is available.

Do you believe in aliens? yup

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? Yes but it changes constantly so really... who knows. Must include learning, getting better at being a human and all my creative endeavours.

How long have you worked at Friday? I started on June 15, 2020. Please take note as my 1-year Friday-versary is fast approaching.

What’s a fun fact about yourself? I was in New Zealand last March when the pandemic started and I spent 3 days sleeping in airports trying to get home.

What's your horoscope? Leo.

Where are you from? I was born in Edmonton and grew up in Leduc.

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? Okay, dream day off: wake up early and do a hike, maybe even for sunrise. Finish the hike and grab some brunch, eggs benny with hashbrowns, and a latte. Next up beach time, lay in the sun and listen to an episode of You're Wrong About (my favourite podcast). Next, and a nice long ocean swim, maybe even a quick surf. Head home to shower and nap. Wake up, it's about 5 pm. Get ready and then out for dinner and drinks. A couple of margaritas to start, then a nice red with a medium-rare steak.

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks? RV & Tree

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I'm definitely more introverted, but I also love being around people. Most people think I hate them when they meet me because I'm so quiet, but I swear I'm nice.

What was your first job? I started cleaning offices for a family friend when I was 13 but my first official job was as a cashier at Sport Check. I started there in grade 10 and worked there all through high school.

What’s the best life lesson/ life advice you’ve learned? Nothing lasts forever. If life is good enjoy it because it won't last forever. If it's bad, that's okay it also won't last forever.

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life? I miss concerts, traveling, and large indoor gatherings.

What would be the title of your memoir? Crying in Public Places - A collection of lessons learned, unfortunate incidents, and happy moments

How do you take your coffee? I'm not picky (about coffee), but I love a Starbucks nitro cold brew with sweet cream or whatever seasonal latte.

Do you believe in aliens? Yes. I was terrified of them as a child after watching Signs and wouldn't go into our basement because I thought they lived down there. I still believe in them but I'm now very confident they aren't living in the basement of a bungalow in Leduc, Alberta.

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? I kind of do. I think it's important to have some general goals set out but not so rigid that you avoid anything that doesn't fit into your 'plan'. The best things in my life have been unexpected and I think as long as you work hard and follow your instincts life will get you to where you need to be. That being said, in the next 5 years I hope to do a working holiday in Australia and maybe start my Master's Degree at UBC.

How long have you worked at Friday? I have worked at Friday for 2 years

What’s a fun fact about yourself? I can sing the Alphabet Song backwards

What's your horoscope? Virgo

Where are you from? I am from Brazil, more specifically from Belo Horizonte, a city of over 3 million people but you probably never heard of it.

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? Shipping off the little bundle of joy to one of his many grandparents and doing nothing at all, said all moms around the globe.

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks? Hmm, that's a hard one. I've designed so many socks at this point and I love virtually all of them. But I think our soon-to-be-released baby sock collection is for sure up there. They are just too cute!

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I'm an introvert with extrovert tendencies. I may not necessarily need to talk to humans all the time, but I love being around them.

What was your first job? Wow, it has now been almost 20 years now. I briefly managed international sales for a famous leather handbag brand in Brazil. Briefly... I suspect I wasn't ready for that kind of job being my first job and all...

What’s the best life lesson/ life advice you’ve learned? You can only control your reaction to people and situations. Everything else is out of your control.

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life? Socializing! Seeing and hanging out with friends and family. At this point, even us introverts are no longer ok!

What would be the title of your memoir? "The tale of a girl who never stopped learning." Life never ceases to teach and so I'm an eternal student.

How do you take your coffee? This is a question that does not make too much sense for Brazilian people. Black, always black.

Do you believe in aliens? With an estimation of 100 thousand million stars in the Milky Way alone, I have to believe that at some moment, somewhere in the Universe there was/is some other type of life form living their best lives. But I don't know if I believe that little green guys have graced us with their presence yet...

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? 5-year plans are a nice wishful concept, but life usually laughs at these type of plans (insert joke about 2020). In my advanced age, I now believe that goals should probably be about behaviours and intrinsic growth, not about definite outcomes. Enjoy the ride and everything you do will be a success in your eyes.

How long have you worked at Friday?

At the time of writing (Feb 22, 11:28mst) 157 Days, 2 hours and 28 minutes. Or in layman's terms 5 months.

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

n/A. I'm a boring person.

If you must, I guess I can say that I have recently gotten into drinking Gin and have a budding collection of different craft gins including a few from local distilleries!

What's your horoscope?

Leo Sun, Pisces Moon, Virgo Rising. (and nothing in Gemini THANK GOD)

Where are you from? I am from the wonderful & vivacious Calgary, Alberta.

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? My favourite way to spend a day off is to hang out with my friends and do something fun. Lately I've really enjoyed learning how to skate with Emily. I have a total of three tricks I can do on skates: hopping, spinning, and (most recently) stopping

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks and why? You know that's a really loaded question... My favourite pairs change every day as we get more designs (or I randomly decide I like fishing...) but my all time favourite has to be Raccoon & Trashcan. On my first week working here I said to Adam "you should design a pair of socks with Raccoons & Trashcans on them". Low and behold, when the shipment for that day arrived one of the new designs was Raccoon & Trashcan. So yeah, it was basically destiny. It's also the only design that I have two of.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I'm going to be that person and say I'm an ambivert. To elaborate, I'm usually more of an extrovert and enjoy being around other people and having a good time (and I'd like to think people enjoy my presence aswell). But there always comes a time where I just want to be left alone and when that time comes, I sincerely hope you are nowhere near me. I can get really nasty when I want to be alone and someone (usually my mom) doesn't get the memo.

What was your first job? Technically my first job was as a sales associate for my school's uniform shop. But that was only for a few days before the school year when they had set up a 'uniform pop up shop' in the school cafeteria. After doing various jobs for my school, I finally landed my first 'real' gig; a dishwasher/helper for one of the Stampede restaurants. One day the chefs had me deep frying and seasoning the chips and let me tell you, teenage John's complexion did not enjoy spending the day in front of a deep fryer being told that I had either over or under seasoned every batch. Just between you and me, as a chip enthusiast, the 'over seasoned' ones were actually perfectly seasoned.

What’s the best life lesson/ life advice you’ve learned? Best life lesson... Well it's worth noting that I'm still young (and dumb) so keep that in mind while you read this.

I think for me, one of the rules I try to abide by is to stay positive and have an open mind. (Yeah yeah John way to say what literally everyone has been saying since the dawn of time). But what I mean is that in almost everything there is joy to be found so why not make the best of it. I just like to keep in mind that with anything I'm doing I can either be miserable about it or try to make the best of it. Focus on what you can do to make what you're doing more fun and enjoyable. Especially with hobbies and stuff. If you're not enjoying yourself is it really something worth doing?

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life?

What I miss the most is going out and dancing with my friends until 1am. Well actually what I miss the most are my friends. I went to University out in Nova Scotia, and I (along with many others) had our term cut short. It's been nearly a year since I have seen my best friends and former roommates so I guess that would be what I miss the most. But that's kind of sad so let's stick with the dancing...

What would be the title of your memoir? Well, I would say Black out or backout: Making the most of life but this is a family friendly environment so let's go with Talking my way through Life

How do you take your coffee? Recently I've been making a lot of lattes so I guess that would be number 1. But, when I'm not feeling fancy it's with cream and sugar.

Do you believe in aliens? Considering the infinite expanse of the universe I do believe that aliens either have existed, currently exist, or will exist. Though I'm not sure we'll ever get to meet them. If we're talking about aliens flying around space in weird hovercrafts I'm going to say no. In terms of life on another planet, I think it would be foolish to say they don't exist considering we hardly know anything about planets outside of the solar system.

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? Here's the thing with long term planning. There will always be a wrench thrown in that you didn't plan for so I guess no. I don't know what I'm going to want to do in 5 years. I have an outline of what I want to do in the future but that could change entirely tomorrow. Since you're asking, right now I'm working towards getting my Bachelor of Education so I can teach math, but ultimately I'd like to research math education and try to find ways to improve mathematical literacy in children.

How long have you worked at Friday? I’ve been here since the end of October 2020, but had actually been monitoring job openings on the website since like…… 2019?

What’s a fun fact about yourself? I was born in South Hampton and my family moved to Winnipeg when I was about 2 years old so unfortunately I was deprived of a british accent!!!

What's your horoscope? Taurus :)

Where are you from? I moved to Calgary from Winnipeg, Manitoba (!!!) this past summer. My background / family is from India!

What’s your ideal way to spend a day off? Laying down and listening to the sweet sound of silence, reading, ordering myself a nice little snack and browsing FB marketplace. My go-to’s are Native Tongues and Taiko Canteen.

What’s your favourite pair of Friday Sock Co. socks and why? This is a hard question but I will have to go with the Leopard & Leopard Socks pair. When I wear them I feel like I’m channelling  bad bitch energy like in a Rihanna music video.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert.

What was your first job? I worked at my local community center canteen, flipping burgers and making coffee for grumpy parents when I was 15. Other kids from my high school worked there too so it was a great time!

What’s the best life lesson/ life advice you’ve learned?  If you can set goals and give yourself direction in short term increments, like 6 months at a time, eventually you’ll get to where you want to be in life. Kind of like a stepping stone analogy.

What do you miss most from pre-pandemic life? I think I miss casual hang outs the most, like watching movies and sharing snacks with friends and being able to sit in close proximity.

What would be the title of your memoir? BROWN SUGAR: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY

How do you take your coffee? With a little cream and sugar, or with Silk brand hazelnut creamer (literally the best thing ever). I also love cappuccinos.

Do you believe in aliens? Yes. They exist.

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? I feel that as people we’re changing and growing constantly even when we can’t perceive it so who really even knows if the “me” in 5 years will want the same thing as the present “me” does - 5 years is a long time!

I'm often really quiet in social situations with lots of people and I have a hard time trying new things without a lot of research beforehand. What would be the title of your memoir? Good question! Depends on the theme. Introspective: "I don't like uncertainty.". Funny: "I always sneeze in threes.". Family: "It's windy Lindy.". Food: "I'm all about the treats.".

How do you take your coffee? I prefer tea, especially Chai Tea Latte's. I have a weakness for sweet drinks.

Do you believe in aliens? No. Not sure what else to say about that.

Do you believe in ‘5-year plans’? If yes, what's yours? Not during covid! Right now I believe in taking things one day at a time. In general I'm not much of a goal setter. I just like to see where life takes me.
